New Year and Facing Overwhelm
I meant to share a post about my 2017 intentions a few weeks ago, but all of a sudden I was hit with it: overwhelm. We all get it, I know. I recently moved to Upstate NY for a career opportunity, and although I am so excited about this next chapter, it is not the only thing that has been on my mind. Throw in a Yoga Teacher Training 4 hours away, a long distance relationship with your husband in Boston, launch of our business (Wild Adventurous Life) with my partner Jen, and you have a lot of moving parts!
Don't get me wrong. I am excited, these are GOOD things! They just happen to require a lot of attention all at once. I reached out to my mentor and dear friend Simi who is always such a kind and compassionate voice. She offered me a series of questions that she uses when she finds herself feeling overwhelmed (even with the good stuff). I hope they are helpful for you too!
- what needs done right now?
- what can I let go of, say no to, or ask someone else to take care of?
- what do I need to do but that can put off until later?
- what is none of my concern?
- are there any unnecessary expectations I've placed on myself that I could reduce to make my "list" shorter?
I went through these questions, and I felt better. I also read this post from hummusapien which reminded me that we all encounter these challenges. I just needed to take a deep breath, prioritize, and allow myself to focus on one thing at a time. So friends, sharing my 2017 intentions with you will just have to wait, (even if it means it is February by the time I share the post). And you know what? That is O.K.
So much love xo,
